CORY DOCTOROW TALK - Readers And Writers Festival, 8th May 2010, 7pm

Hi!

It is indeed my great pleasure to let you all know that we are going to have Cory Doctorow joining us for a chat about his life and his work on Saturday the 8th of May 2010 at 7pm.
This is where you can find us:
The Nettlefold Hall (click for MAP)
1-5 Norwood High Street
West Norwood
London
SE27 9JX

Tentatively titled Future-Proof: The Time-Hacks and Life-Mods of Cory Doctorow, this talk, more than confuse your brain will take you through the wonders of one of the most ecletic writers of our time.
"Cory will be modding your reality at the mere price of your presence! Join him for tales of woe and wonder that will explore the realms of storytelling as techno-social activism; delving into creativity as symbiotic, crosscultural hacking; breaching the dangers and shelters of reason; examining the copy-wrongs of copy-right; transducing pathways to a post-scarcity world while pondering if truth is truly in sight? Be there and glimpse the future, right now…"
What it means: a witty and informative Q&A with an unusual author about some - perhaps - unusual themes...

(if you'd like to check out some of Cory's stuff I'd say click on OVERCLOCKED.)
(or LITTLE BROTHER... come on, you know you're curious...)

In 2007, Entertainment Weekly called him, "The William Gibson of his generation." He was also named one of Forbes Magazine's 2007/8/9/10 Web Celebrities, and one of the World Economic Forum's Young Global Leaders for 2007.

Here's a bit I hacked from Cory's blog about his new novel FOR THE WIN:

'My next YA novel, For the Win, comes out in less than a month on May 11, and the early reviews have begun to show up. I'm especially delighted to have gotten my first-ever starred review in Booklist, which reads, in part, "Doctorow is indispensable. It’s hard to imagine any other author taking on youth and technology with such passion, intelligence, and understanding...Once again Doctorow has taken denigrated youth behavior (this time, gaming) and recast it into something heroic... With its eye-opening humanity and revolutionary zeal, this ambitious epic is well worth the considerable challenge." '
